I too came from Government to business and left thinking and hoping I would not face the same barriers. Well I have.
Now though, with survival on the line and no one but me to figure out how to get to my goals, I am much more bottom line about things. The world isn't fair, at the same time, you gotta eat so let's just get on with it.
